Does anyone have experience with the swissguard basslet? i.e. tankmates, lighting, foods, overall general take on this fish. Would appreciate input. Thanks

I have kept them a few times. Wonderful fish, a 'poor man's candy basslet' 
O maybe a sensible man! Pretty easy to keep and not aggressive. Depending upon existing tank-mates, an acclimation box may be warranted as this fish will be bullied by established, aggressive fish (Tangs, Damsels, Dwarf Angels). I found mine to accept most frozen foods, and one loved flake.

I've had one for about a year and a half now. I like him a lot. He was in my 29 at first, and is just now getting accustomed to my new 40B. The transition took longer than I expected. He spent a long time in hiding, but this may have been partly because he was the only fish in the tank, and I think this may have made him nervous. He started coming out more when I added a purple firefish to the tank.
He's a docile fish, never having shown any aggression to any fish he's been with, with the exception of some Trimma gobies I had in the 29 when I first added him to the tank. Those he promptly ate. He's always been a good eater, not really finicky at all. Mysis and prime reef pellets are his favorites, but he takes other stuff too. He's learning to eat flakes right now. Oh, and he LOVES live blackworms!
They're a deep water fish, so popular wisdom is that they prefer lower lighting, and I'm sure there's some truth to that. But my tanks are brightly lit and he doesn't SEEM to mind. I think giving him plenty of hiding places to choose from is more important to him.

Thanks. I have a concern because I have a royal gramma and a neon damsel. An acclimation box is my next order of business.

I had one a few years ago. Shy fish hides in the rocks but comes out after a few months. I have had to feed him in the area he hung out at just to make sure he ate. Eventually he was out much more. On day one he went after my cleaner shrimp and I saw it and placed a long pipe between them and it scared him and he left it alone after that.
Not 100% safe with shrimps. Cool fish, just a drab personality IMO. I would def get another though.
