switched from a 220g to 125g - pics

I got sick of not being able to easily reach everything so I moved my reef to a 125g. I think it looks a lot better now without all the empty space. Originally I was leaving a lot of "headroom" for sps to grow but after switching direction to zoa and softies dominant I just felt like I was wasting space. Anyway here are a couple pics of the new setup, I forgot to get a pic of the new fuge/sump setup I did, and a pic of what I did with the 220g for those few of you that enjoy freshwater. :P

Good stuff, I like it better with the more compacted rock arrangement. The only problem that it creates is "dead spaces" in the tank, in other words areas that the flow doesn't reach with much intensity. These can sometimes create nuisance algae havens, on the bright side they are also the more cryptic areas where we are likely to see most of our filter feeding inverts pop up (sponges, feather dusters, etc). Taking a powerhead to those areas every couple weeks to keep any algae from building up helps, this way it can be suspended back into the water column where it can be removed by either mechanical filtration or skimming. Now all you need is some nice coral frags to fill out some of those empty spots. ;)

yea, I wish I had known how much I was going to dislike the fact that my tank is 30 inches deep. I dislike it almost every time I do anything with the tank. It would not be a big deal if the tank was a FO tank. OH, well.

Your tank is looking good. Still some room for more.:lmao:

Thanks guys. I actually have 3 1300gph koralia type powerheads built into the rockwork, plus the output from the filter so I'm not getting much deadspace. I have a good bit of frags but they're small and need to grow.
