Switched skimmer to re-circulating, now large bubbles

I was running my skimmer from the sump to the skimmer with an Iwaki 100 with great success.

I down sized my tank and need less flow through the skimmer. I set it up to be fed by the return pump and use the Iwaki 100 as a re-circulating pump to power the beckett. No I have large bubbles and lots of turbulance. Any reason why this is happening? Alot of bubbles are being pulled into the pump. Could this be a problem?

Beckett heads need to be fed by the large pressure rated pump. Feeding them with the overflow won't produce bubble. I'm surprised you even have large bubbles.

You missunderstood. The beckett is being pushed through with an Iwaki 100. Think of it as a closed loop in the skimmer. The water supply for the skimmer is being supplied by the return pump.
