Switching nano reef to inverts only

Hello,

I have a fluval evo 13.5 with some soft/lps corals, 2 ocellaris clowns and an orchid dottyback. I have been battling green hair algae for 6 months now as the bio load is fairly high. I was thinking just going to an invert only tank and keeping a pair of cleaner shrimps along with some more coral. I am not running a skimmer, and only using the stock pumps and light. My question is would removing the fish for a month result in die off of the hair algae or would I still have the manually remove it? I figure I could continue water changes to get nutrients out after the algae dies then add the shrimp.

Certainly when you stop feeding the bioload will be greatly reduced, which should slow down the growth considerably. I would not necessarily expect the GHA to simply die off, however.
