switching tanks (sand smelly)?

when you empty your tanks for any reason. does your sand smell bad? my tank does not smell at all until, I drained the water and started to get the sand out. I am switching to a larger tank.

Kinda like rotten eggs. Yeah, try to rinse the sand out in waste water.
