Switching to a 90 gal???????

I have a 40gal reef and am moving in two months. The question is when i put the 90 together is it possible to jump start the 90 with the 40. Using cured live rock, new sand, some old substrate, and live rock from the 40. Would this help with cycling the tank completley? Or will I have to wait for 5-6 months still? Any sugg?

All that will drastically cut down on the cycle time in the 90G. You may have a week or so of elevated ammonia but I really doubt it.

I set up my 90 gal using all the stuff from my 29 gal. I had coraline algea growth after 3 weeks. It's a great jumpstart.

I did exactly what you want to do. I dumped my old sand, used 70 lbs of LR from my 45. Then waited two weeks until Ammonia dropped, and moved everything over. No losses.

Yup, I would keep as much sand and water as possible, as well as use all live rock you have. I would wait a week or two before adding any new live rock (base rock should be ok). Whenever I have done this I have seen little or no cycle and all fish/corals made the transition just fine.
