Let's get a discussion going about having a "Reef Tour". I'm definitely down to be a "Pit Stop" on the journey. I would offer to host a meeting, but I only have two tanks and I bet everyone would like to see some variety (and nicer looking tanks).

If you are interested in being a "Pit Stop" or just a "driver" post here and let me know what date works for you all. I'm thinking some time in the next month. Let's give it a week, see what kind of response we get and come to a consensus and set a date.

I have seen a couple cool build threads and some new names popping up on our forum. Let's go see what you got. If you aren't quite there yet, then just come along for the ride.

sounds like a good idea will, I would love to see more setups and would not mind being a stop but I am off the beaten path unless we get more people in this are involved.

Good deal guys. I think that once we finalize a list of pit stops we can come up with a map so that we can make it start in one location and end in another and hopefully not have too much circling around in between. I'll come up with a Google earth route and schedule once we (hopefully) get some more "pit stop" volunteers. Then if someone wants to jump in and see a few tanks they will know where we are on the map and won't feel obligated to make the full tour if they don't want to.

I think a Saturday would work best since most people work during the week and others worship on Sunday, so let's narrow it down to the next 5 Saturdays. I may put a poll in if possible with the potential dates and let folks vote for what works for them.

Looks like the mods were able to add a poll in. Since this is bordering on warm weather, I'll be glad to have the pool open and be an anchor on the end of the crawl. I'll fire up the grill and have refreshments. So, bring your trunks if the weather is nice.

Also, feel free to post up what you have ready to be fragged if anyone wants to do some trading or selling along the way.

I'm getting stoked about this!

I am also a a little out of the way. Only have got the 45 to show so nothing like Jorge's tanks. But would be great to see other tanks and everyone. I have t-ball for the next 5 weeks so time would be a factor for me.

Hey Ade,
Hope you can tag along or host a pit stop :) If you have ball on the day that works for most of us then hopefully you can at least make it for the beginning or end of the tour?

I'm going to give it a week to allow (hopefully) more people to respond and vote on the date. At that point I'll let everyone know what date we are going with and everyone that can be a pit stop can email me their addresses and I'll organize a schedule and route.

Thanks for the interest everyone!

The 25th is leading in the polls, Jorge. Of course there's only been 4 votes. I actually will be out of town on the 18th, so that weekend is out for me. I voted for the 25th as well.

We have had 133 views, so it may be that there are only 3 pit stops on the reef tour. I was hoping for a bigger turn out of both pit stops and people wanting to come along for the ride, but the week isn't up yet, so I'm still hopeful we'll get some more folks interested in being an active part of the SWVA reef community.

All you lurkers come on and weigh in! Post whether you'll be willing to host a pit stop or just along for the ride. I need to know how much food to fix :)

Hey Ben,
Thanks for volunteering! Anyone else in the NRV want to host a pit stop? This will be a real tour if we go from Radford to almost Lynchburg and then back to Roanoke! I'm down :)
Thanks!
Will

I want in as a pit stop. I voted for June the 8th as I am supposed to be at a soccer tournament with the family on the 25th. I will try to figure something out no matter when it is. Michael

I can't do the weekends in may but would be willing to host a meet earlier this summer. I can probably get a sponsor for it with some raffles. I thought perhaps we could blend some home made frozen food for the meet. If the tour ends up being in June I could be a stop.

Thanks Mike and Eugene! You both have awesome tanks and it'd be cool to have you all as pit stops. We'll see how it looks as far as scheduling at the end of the week.

It looks like the votes are in for the 25th. I'd like to have Mike and Eugene as pit stops, but if June 1st and June 8th are not able to be done by the majority of the folks we'll have to get them in next time around. Plus it sounds like Eugene will be hosting a meeting in the near future. Thanks for everyone that voted.

Could everyone that's a pit stop PM me their addresses and I'll make a schedule? I'm thinking since we are going to Radford to see Chemguys tank we perhaps we can have a stop at C&P on the way back, they sometimes have a decent selection of coral. Also UA is fairly close to my house so I'll add them in as a next to last stop. Feel free to PM me if you are interested in coming along for the ride and I'll make sure we get the finalized list out to the group without posting up all of our addresses on the internet (for privacy concerns). My email is will.mccoy@gmail.com and my cell is 540 553 4317.

Thanks everyone let's make this epic :)

OK, just got an update that Ben (Chemguy85) is out as a pit stop :( I haven't heard back from Ade, yet. So, it looks like it is Jorge, Ade (possibly), Nguyen, and myself as the "pit stops".

I'm working on an updated schedule.

I wish we could participate, but we are a bit out of the way. Aside from the fact that we have nothing at the moment to show except lots of peices. LOL

I told Tim I'd love to have a get together this fall maybe when we have everything up and running. I know that Tim has met a number of you, but I've only met Jorge so far. In the meantime, have fun everyone! Someone should take lots of pictures and post shots from the trip.

2013 SWVA Reef Tour Schedule:

Noon-1ish Jorge's House (dadyoj21), Goode VA
2pm - 3pm Nguyen's House (lighthouze08), 14 Jay Ridge Road Cloverdale, VA 24077
3:30 - 4pm UA, 1428 Roanoke Rd Daleville, VA 24083
4:30 - ??? My house @ 6518 Sherry Road, Roanoke VA 24018

If anyone wants to ride with me out to Jorge's house, I'll be heading out around 11am and can take two passengers :) Just meet up at my house at 11am, you can leave your cars here to be picked up later. Or you can follow me there.

Hey Jorge and Nguyen, I have your addresses, but didn't want to post them up on the board without your permission. Let me know, or you can just post them up here.

Thanks everyone!

Come along for the ride :) I only have a crappy digital camera, but I'll try to remember to take some pics, good idea!
