Symphyllia Care

I recently purchased what I believe a Symphyllia sp. coral that closely resembles a lobopyllia coral. It sat in my dealers tank for six months before I bought it. It was really open and healthy when I bought it. Since it has been in my tank, it hasn't really opened up and generally looks bad. It hasn't bleached, but the tissue seems to be getting ready to recede. It went from a tank with 250 halides to a 400 w sps tank. I also have quite a bit of flow. How hardy are these guys and is there anything I can do to make him happier?

Lobos are symphyllia have always been one of my favs. There is a wide range of light some tolerate higher lighting more than others.

If it's not doing well, keep it on the bottom, probably a good fit for a shaded or partly shaded area and gradualy move it out depending on how it reacts.

i have a large light blue symphyllia that is about 5in under water with a 400w 14K MH about 12in from the water surface. try it in a area with no direct water flow but good water movement around it. what color is yours?

It is solid red. I moved it down to an area with less flow. There are very few low flow areas in my tank. I hope it works out.
