Sympodium coming next week.

Hi folks,

I just ordered some sympodium (not sure if it's technically a polyp) and it arrives next week. I'm just curious if anyone can give me tips on keeping it, lighting/flow, etc. Can it make it through a dip in Coral Rx? Etc.

I appreciate the assist! I'm quite sure my tank has the tools to keep it alive but I want to make sure I utilize them properly.

Here is a pic to confirm the ID:

It seems pretty adaptable in my experience. I didn't dip mine, though.

I have mine towards the bottom of the tank (not on the sand but on one of the bottom rocks) where it gets moderate flow. I've admittedly only had the colony for a few months but it seems happy and I've noticed some growth :).

Just picked up some yesterday at Midwest Coral Farm. I have it midway in the tank under t=5's. It opened up and is looking amazing. I was under the impression it likes low light and low/moderate flow. I am I correct?

I have mine about 28 inches below a 250w halide, with moderate flow.A good steady growth with mine some has even grown towards the light.I got mine from Mystic Reef,(where Tyree got one of his seed corals from). They told me it can handle alot of different conditions. Interesting coral.

hey ive been thinking about getting some from there, how much do they have it at?

Mine have the polyps closed....do you think the cause may be the flow?
Tonight I moved into a moderate flow zone of my nano....hopefully....

It's not uncommon for sympodium to stay closed for even a day or two at a time, so there may not be any issue with it's local conditions at all. That said, the one thing I've found it doesn't like at all is a lot of flow.
