System finds LAN card, but cannot connect...

Anyone have their card set up? PF Control scans the network, finds the ProfiLux LAN card, sees the IP address, but after it asks me to select the IP address from the list (only one is displayed), then it times out and tells me that it cannot connect.

Whoops, did not download and run device installer. I didn't see that. Let me give it a shot.

is that the wireless (wlan) or the hard wire (lan) card?

Either or there is no driver to install

make sure that you have no other connections established with another computer..... Will never work otherwise, been there done that!

boboxx, It's the lan card (not wireless).

So I don't need to use the Device Installer from the Lantronix site? My sheet of directions state to use that tool and their Com Port redirector.


kidney, are you saying that you can't share a broadband off a router/hub?

NO, what I'm saying is that you can only have one connection at the time to the unit. Example my home computer was connected and then tried to connect from the office and wasn't able too.

OK... gotchya. Right now I'm would be happy with ONE connection, let alone two!

Here's my settings in Control:

Device is TCP/IP, Interface is Auto, no baud rate set, Device is #4, and timout is 5000 ms.

device 1: Com 1 - serial
device 4: Com 4 - Lan, 115200 baud, automaticly detect IP address.

Looks like I got it to connect! Changing the baud rate on the box to 9600 made the difference. thx!

So.... for remote access, do I need to use Control combined with that Com Port Redirect software from lantronix that GHL mentions in the install pamphlet?

Yes.... from work, on my laptop....

you need to go into your router that you have a home and do a port redirect to the IP adress of your profilux device. port is 10001

Right now the ProfiLux is set to dynamically assign an IP address. So, won't it change over time?
