system setup for sps

Whats happening is that a friend of mine is wanting to go sps, and has had a few systems designed for him. Heres some examples. Keep in mind this tank is viewed front, back, left side.

System 1

225 glass, right side overflow with 5 holes. Two returns, one, electrical, one closed loop, and one to the sump.
1/3 hp chiller, 3 x 250 hqis, g4 skimmer, 40 sump/ refugium, one blue line hd 100 and another hd 70.

System 2

225 glass, center drilled holes. One return, one electrical, one to sump. No chiller, 4 x 250 hqis w/$$$$german reflectors, mr3r MRC recirculating skimmer, sump/no refugium, four moving powerheads, and an external blue line hd 70 for return. Wavemaker also

Is it neccesary to double all the ratings on the equipment for an sps setup. Is is going to make a difference to buy a german made reflector vice the one hqi has? No refuigum? Also is it a must to have a wavemaker with four moving powerheads on the inside?..........UV or no UV?.............I just dont want my friend to get suckered into all this equipment that isnt neccasary.

I appreciate the help. And please make some recommendations.

This tank will be strictly sps. Thanks for the help.

here is what i would do.
first does he have the tank already ? because when you get that big in a tank you will wont to go with acrylic.
with regards to lighting go with 250 HQI 15 K and T-5's. this is what i have found to be the best combo. if he has a glass tank then go with 4 MH. acrylic go with how many port holes there are.

with the sump i would go with a mud/sand fuge system of some sort. i find the larger the better i have a 225 with a 75 sump and it works grate.
UV vs. no UV i would go with a UV not for the corals but for the fish (ick i hate it).
i would get a MRC calcium reactor with a PH controller and a good skimmer.
i also would have him top off with kalkwasser

yeah we are looking at an mrc skimmer and calciul reactor. Do you think I need to go with gear rated a little above my tank size or way above?

I currently have a 225gl and I will offer you these suggestions:

This is what I currently have on my tank-

225gl Starphire(60Lx36Wx24H) Reef
45gl Sump
Deltec AP851
Deltec KM500 Kalk Reactor
GEO Calcium Reactor
Sequence DART
TUNZE 6100 Stream
2X SEIO 1500
2X Lumenarc III
ARO PRO 250W
XM 10K SE
2x140W VHO URi Actinic
1x140W VHO Uri Daylight

For your lighting I would go with Lumenarc III reflectors, they will cut your lighting needs in half. Depending on the length of the tank you may only have to go with 2 Lumenarc's instead of 4 German reflector.

Make sure you select a good quality skimmer.
