T-5/VHO Supplementation

Hey guys,

I've been experimenting with potential lighting setups to replace my cheapo Chinese units and I think I've come up with something pretty good.

I have a big tank 72x36x27 and I've been thinking about Radions for some time. I think I could get away with 3 but 6 seems to be the suggested number I have seen out there. I've got a baby on the way, so I can't afford to go all out on 6.

3 units would account for 90 percent of my SPS and my 8 inch squamosa, the problem is the front six inches of my tank down to the sand bed. Shadows are also a concern as the 300DD has two massive center braces.

My solution to this, while avoiding a second mortgage is two run either T-5 or VHO in front of my Radions. My initial plan is for two 72" tubes running the length of the tank. I can also run 36" tubes from front to back on each side of all of the Radions. Either way, I'm just trying to figure out the most efficient way to get some "punch" down to the sandbed for LPS while covering the whole tank.

Any thoughts on what would be best? T-5s or VHOs, colors that will marry up well with the Radions and any other thoughts on this plan? I think this has the potential to look and work great, but I'd hate to under plan and have to start over again...

Get the wide angle lens and crank it up to 70 percent. These lights as suggested will grow sps at 35%. 3 will be suffice.

Adding mh to supplement will just be wasteful when there's the wide angle lens alternative.
