I found it, 3" T. Maixma, with a torn up mantle the day after i added a smallish, 1" Amphirion Ocellaris, False Percula Clownfish. upon introduction it immediately paired up with my other False Percula, and they seem to be fine together. i got the little one on purpose in order to help them establish thier clownfish pecking order without too much mayhem. i don't think it was the fish, but i i noticed the clam on it's side, next to my other T. Maxima, which was untouched. the mantle has been eaten completely about one of the flutes that extends out. the clam closes quickly, and reopens fine. water params are within tolerances. system is a 26G bowfront, with a 20G long sump/refugium plumbed into the garage. system return pump is a 635 G/h but with 33" head i think i'm getting somewhere around 425(ish) GPH system flow, with an AquaC Remora Pro with Mag 3 pump on the inlet chamber to the sump/refugium. i pull a dark, dark green/coffee colored liquid full resevoir out once a week. lighting is 110 PC (2x55W) actinic 03, and one 250W DE 14K hamilton about 2" off the water. the light hood has glass between the tank and bulb and two fans blow air thru the hood anytime the MH lamp is on. i feed the tank Golden Pearls, 5-50 micron and 50-100 micron, both small amounts and some of Reed Mariculture's Clam and coral diet, about 15 drops every other day. the amounts are small, but the tank is a hive of activity for hours after i feed. Copepods and amphipods all over the place, and all my corals are growing. i feed the fish several small feeding every day. they are well fed with mysis/finely pureed krill/frozen cube food several different types, i rotate thru weekly, and nori on a clip. i did the club soda event with a turkey baster yesterday. pulled all live rock out one by one and flushed out four 1.5" to 2" crabs. one had a huge right claw that had black pincer tips. the others were the smaller hairy gorilla crabs. also two 4"-6" worms with red ends and black middles. no pics as they are history. could these have been the culprits? all my corals are happy and extend thier polyps way out when i feed the tank, and are out most of the time anyway. TIA for any comments...so much to know...
