T5 and IC SLR light dispersion

I am awaiting my 6x54W TEK retrofit with the IC SLR reflectors. My question is about light dispersion. Do the SLR relectors maximize PAR straight down or is it somehwhat diffused. So if I have a GE daylight near the middle, will its light really only affect corals that are directly below it? I think I read somewhere that someone (the Grim Reefer maybe?) modified the SLR reflectors. Was that to disperse the light more (still directed to the tank, but not as focused)?

I think Grimreefer said about 3" on each side of the bulb gives max output. Any more then that and it drops.

Is 3" on each side of the bulb for the plain SLRs or modified SLRs? Also, should I space my bulbs 3" apart?

Modified SLRs? never heard of them, and links on how to mod them?

I think I remember reading the Grim had modified a couple of his. Maybe not, though. My original question is whether the stock SLRs require any kind of mod to distribute light over a broader area -- so maybe the PAR straight down would not be as high, but more of the tank would get the light. For example, if I have 1 GE daylight in a set of 6 lamps, do only the corals directly under the lamp get the benefit, or is there a way to get the high PAR GE lightbulb to distribute that out a bit more.

Dont think theres any moded SLR reflectors or any need for it.

Grim was talking about "upgrading" from Tek reflectors to Icecap SLR reflectors if thats what you were thinking. He said SLR reflectors produce 20% more PAR or penetrates 20% deeper then the Tek reflectors.

Baciclly if you only have 1 GE daylight bulb. Anything under it or 3" from the bulb will get maximum PAR from that bulb. Anything farther wont recieve 100% of the PAR from that bulb. So if you want more coral under a GE daylight, I recommend getting another and have them 3-4" away from each other in the fixture.
