I've got a tek 5 with 6 bulbs and was thinking of getting into some sps corals.Wondering if possible and thoughs on trying.
Thanks

On a 75gl you should be able to keep any SPS you would like.

What bulbs are you currently using?

4 aquablue+ and 2 actinic
around 6 inchs off the surface.
thinking of some differant bulbs
{reefgeek setup}

You should be fine with that setup. You could even add a couple GE 6500K to add more PAR but with your current setup your good to go.

Ohh and congrats on the new baby

You should be fine with the setup as you have it right now. I run a 6 bulb retro over my 29, with 5 bulbs over the tank and one over the fuge. I'm to the point where I'm about 75% SPS..there are some pics in my gallery.

reefgeek.com ..... I went with the retro so that I could build a custom hood...and reefgeek's retro's come with the bulbs.

As far as the lights setup,I've run the 6500's and did not like the look of the tank.n
What bulbs would giv me the best color for the corals?
As of now I'm running
front
actinic
aquablue
aquablue
actinic
aquablue
actinic
back
Thatnks for all the input thus far...

the t5 actinic is a joke

cant wait to see the uri

actinic plus is the better bulb

The Actinic Plus have very pleasant color. I use the 4 bulb fixture and use 4 Actinic Plus (Blue)and one Aqua Blue (Cool White). As for their Actinic bulb, I was not pleased with the color and intensity at all. If you do a 6 bulb fixture, I would recommend to add one more Aqua Blue (Cool White and 1 6500. This would give the optimal effect for sure. Hope this helps, Eric

Tek 5

Tek 5

I'm running the Tek 5 8 bulb 36 on my 55, my sps are loving it. Infact I switched over from 3 Phoniex 14k 150watt HQI's, and I honestly feel the Tek5 fixture produced more Par and better spectrum, just from the coloration and growth rates.I know that many people will disgaree but I love the T5 lighting, best investment I ever made, that and my Tunze Stream and Tunze Skimmer. good luck.

I run 3 Oceanblue+ 2 Actinic (aquamedic) 1 ge6500k, 2 10k daylight,
some are aquamedic, some Geismann.

cheers
David

My bulb combo (once they arrive from reefgeek) will be:

URI Super Actinic
GE Daylight
Blue+
GE daylight
Blue+
URI Super Actinic

You may say that sounds like it will be very blue??? Well i have been running the 2xAB 1xGE 3xB+ for the past year. I actually think its a tad too much light for some stuff. My colors are even a bit washed out because of the intensity I think. The tank is incredibly bright, even with 1yr old bulbs. The tank also looks darn near pure white with the current setup. I would prefer a bit more of a blue look. The blue+ are great for that, they add the blue and they are also very high PAR for blue bulbs....

You could keep sps if you had:

6x Aquablue +

or

4x Aquablue +
2x GE 6500k

or

4x Aquablue +
2x Aquaz Sun Pro (10k)

all those combinations are great. T5's are very bright so don't underestimate what they can do.

As someone else says, the T5 actinics aren't that good. Aquablue + is very good and gives good colors.

I've pre-ordered the new super actinci bulb from reefgeek. It been said the new bulbs will help bring the colors out a bit more..
