T5 Bulb configuration

Hi everyone. Its getting to the one year mark on my T5 bulbs. I currently run the Sunlight supply 6 bulb 48 in fixture. I am a bit unhappy with the colors that I am getting and I am looking for some suggestions on differnt bulb configurations that people are using with their T5's. I use Giesemann bulbs right now. Thanks in advance.

We need more info. What are the exact bulbs you are running right now? Why dont you like the color? Is the tank too white or too blue? Are you using the acrylic shield on the fixture and do you have an external fan blowing on the fixture?

FYI, you will want to replace the bulbs every 9 months with that fixture if you are not using the shield and have a fan cooling things down.

If you are running the shield plan to replace the bulbs every 6 months. Taking the shield off is a good idea.

Rtparty thanks for the reply and info.

I currently feel its a bit too white. I do use the acylic shield, which I will be taking off. I prefer a 16-20k look. I have very good coral growth right now and corals are healthy but I would like them to pop a bit more. I have a few sps near the top half of the tank with the rest being mainly softies and lps. I love Acans so my sandbed is covered. I guess I am looking for something to suit my sps without being to intense for lps.. again thank you

Well, your biggest issue is that you are running 3 "white" bulbs and an actinic. Aquablue bulbs are terrible IMO and as you can see, really wash out color.

Go with 4 Actinic Plus, 1 Aquapink and 1 Midday if you stick to Geisemann bulbs. Grab an extra AquaPink as well to play with. Try running the 4 Actinic Plus and 2 AquaPink and see what you think.

I personally like ATI bulbs more than Gmann. They are cheaper and have better performance.
