Looking at setting up a 30x18x18 cube and want to get a carpet. I am leaning more to T5 than MH becasue of heat (AZ). Is a gigantea need more light than SPS? Anyone had gig under T5? I think alot of specimenss ship poorly and then cause high mortality rate.
I kept a very healthy one for about 8 months in my 40 gal under T5's until it outgrew my tank. So I guess you could safely say they can be kept under t5s. Def dont have one shipped to you. def have an LFS get one for you.
PAR = photosynthetic available radiation I believe. It basically measures how stong your light is for "light using corals" at certain depths of your tank(compared to natural sunlight).
I've yet to find a coral or Nem that I cant grow under T5HO.
I would imagine a Gig is more light demanding then any SPS, but I cant confirm that.
You would need run the right bulbs and # for your tank footprint/depth to work .
Your tank is far from a cube at dimensions listed.
I would go with 6 - 2' T5HO atleast.
