T5 issues

I bought the retro t5 kit. 660 Icecap ballast. I swear, Idid everything according to the book, and I mean, everything!!! Nothing missed, but still the lights come on, and go off automatically. Did anyone else have this same problem???

check the ground,i had the same problems until i got a better groung connection.come on for 10 or so mins and go off?

It comes on for a split second. I had it set for four bulb set up, only had two bulbs at the time, and it wasn´t working. I switched the lines according to a two bulb setup, but that doesn+t work either. I am out of ideas...

Once you put the bulbs in the cap, make sure you turn them to lock it in.

If you wired it for 4 bulbs, you have to have all 4 bulbs in place for the Icecap to fire. If it comes on for a second and goes out, after changing it to a 2 bulb setup, you more than likely have a loose connection somewhere. Go through this process to determine where that is:

Some retros like Icecap, there is no turning of the lamp.

How did you connect the 660 to a socket? Extension cord with female plug cut off and then connect the black/white/green?

Sounds like one of the bulbs is not properly seated. That is the same thing that will happen if a bulb goes out.

Try starting it again and seeing if one bulb in particular does not fire, and then trace the connections and seating of that bulb. basically start it and see which blink on and which does not.

I had the same issue. What I did is first make sure the bulb was in it proper position, then I made a dot on each bulb with a sharpie marker. That way when I screwed on the end caps I could see if the bulb moved....problem solved

Great suggestions! E-A-G-L-E-S, I connected the green white and balck cable together with the cord that goes to the plug. What did you mean with the female plug cut off?

I have gotten a bad bulb before, brand new, but bad. If you are testing with the 2 bulb wiring scheme, make sure you test more than one bulb combination. You could have a bad bulb eventhough they're new.

On a heavy duty or even medium duty ext. cord there is either:
1. the three wires bare and already stripped
2. a female adapter where you plug whatever equipment you want to use in, then the other end is the male 3-prong adapter that goes into wall socket(simply sut female end off to expose the three wires)
