hello,

i'm trying to plan out an led / t5 hybrid, and i'm looking for some kind of enclosure that will look good. any suggestions? i'm looking for a fixture that will be about half led's and half t5's, maybe leaning heavier on the led's.

first one would be for a 24" fixture, and then a 48" fixture.

i looked at the asis pros. kind of pricey, but some sexy looking fixtures.

prestige hybrids look ideal, except for the led layout. i would want a couple more reds and uv's.

any other suggestions?

thoughts?

for the 24" fixture cncreef is the way to go if you want sleek and sexy. but as you said, the price is heavy.

for 48" you dont have much for options. your best bet would be to take a 48" ati fixture and remove the center bulbs and put the leds in. that way you have a top quality t5 unit and the added benefits of led. one thing is for certain though, the prestige led isnt as good as it seems. the color seperation due to the super wide led spacing makes for some horrible light shows in your tank. if you want a sweet unit, contact dave at nano box.

I used a 48" Tek light and am really happy with how it turned out:

i'm thinking about ordering a 24" cnc just to experiment with. would probably look sweet on the rimless 60g. i looked at a 48" ati fixture on friday. i was going to buy it, until i looked closer. this particular one was build so that i couldn't just removed the sections and add pucks. i could have just taken out bulbs, and added strips though. i passed. i hadn't heard about dave at nano. i will give him a shout. thanks!

yes, your fixture seems like a great idea. i would probably modify it a little though. possibly use ati, if i could find one that i could remove the sections like yours. i would probably also go with either the aurora pucks or hydra 52's as well. i'm personally not a fan of the ecotech control system. to each their own though....

i'm looking for a 24" 8 bulb fixture. if i can find one, i'll modify it and see how i like it. i would like to experiment on a smaller one before i invest in the larger.

lmk how u liking the cncreef it my first time hearing about them

i'm holding off on the cnc for now. i just scored a hydra 52 and going to experiment with it on my cube. if i like it, i will probably use 52's and make a design like terry4505's. it seems about ideal!
