T5 & led lighting combo

In the working off trying to set up new t5 & LED combo on my tank I have heard that this is one of the better options to get not only a good spectrum but as well as minimal shadowing! Have never had t5s and not really sure where to start not sure what wattage to get, what the is the difference between high output and the normal? Was looking to get some suggestions, recommendations, information, or even photos of your set up or what you are running! I'm looking to do LEDs in the middle and 4 bulbs total two on each side! I have a 75 gallon mixed reef tank? Any help would be great!

T5 & led lighting combo

If I had the money right now I'd do the same, but for your tank size and not knowing what your gonna be keeping in it I think a ati 4 bulb t5 with 2 reefbrite strips one on each side would work really well and I wouldn't waste any money on regular t5s go HO either way

There are two really big questions that need to be answered first.
What do you plan to keep?
And do you want t5 with LED supplementation or LED with t5 supplementation?
Ati and reef brite is a super popular option.
I am planning on going LED and supplement with t5. So I picked up a photon led and will add some t5 all in a hood down the road. Tank is still new so I don't need all that light right now.

I'm not that into sps but I do want the option to try some I have a like 3 sps frags and mostly lps and I do want soft corals! I want the t5s to do most of the growing I really want to just have some LEDs so I can get the sunrise and sunset effect! I have a current marine orbit led because I really love the one I have now Plus I can set them to ramp up in the morning and ramp down at night over a 10 hour period. Its does and ok job but I want something that will really grow corals and I don't want to spend 700 bucks on a radion! So I think t5s would be just as good!

T5 & led lighting combo

I've had mh/t5 combo power compact just t5 now just led and from my experience and a lot other t5 is the way to go a lot of people on here have had high end LEDs then went back to t5s and have reported accelerated coral growth I personally think you get best growth from t5/mh but the down fall is heat and cost to run with that said I think your on the right path even doing t5s then adding LEDs later down the road

Ever since I watched the BRS 160 I've been wanting to do t5 and led! And they had some awsome data

If you have watched that video you get pretty much the whole picture. The one where they poll the office and get their opinions. Based off what you said you basically want t5 with LED supplement. The ati 48" is dimmable to get your sun up/down. The led supplementing the t5 really gives you pop.
Sounds like 6x55w dimmable ati with reef brite. You can always get the ati and the reef brite as budget allows down the road.

Seems like a lot of people are running 4 blue plus 1 coral plus and 1 purple plus or something to that effect

I run a t5/led fixture. Its led supplemented by t5. I have 6 channels of control, 4 clusters of 19 LEDs for a total of 76 LEDs (8 colors), and 2 36" t5s. I love my light and would never go any other route.

Currently running a 6 bulb 48" with 4x ATI Blue plus, 1x Coral plus and 1x Purple plus. Bolted to the light is a 48" ATI Reefbrite XHO.. After all the lighting combos ive gone through over the years, this is my favorite.

How much of a pop does the xho give the corals? Do you get any shimmer?
