t5 lighting for 75g

I had the 8x54w orbit fixture and loved it! I kept the clams high on the rocks and they loved it. should be ok for you as long as they're up high in the rocks

I use a 4x54w teklight t5 fixture over my 75g and my clams love it. They are in the top third of the tank. Here they are a couple months ago. They've been under these lights for roughly 6-7 months.

I got a derasa that is starting to look less than great, it is in 40 under 4x54 T5 in the bottom and in sand. Should I move to rocks and up a little?

if using T5's and no halides, you need to have these babies in the
upper third of your tank....remember these critters live in shallow turbid
water for the most part. Tidal flats etc......lots of light and not the cleanest water.

I just figured since it was a derasa and my crocea was doing good at the top, it would be fine at the bottom. I plan on checking for snails, but I think it may have been just lighting and too much flow.

Thanks for the advice everyone, i ordered the t5's and when if i decide to put clams in, they will be at the top!

HO T5s are perfectly acceptable for clams. As with any light, please acclimate the clam to your light first. Remember too a clam can bleach under too intense of lighting and can have serious issues if moved from one position in a tank to a much more intense position with excessive heat.
