i have a 150 gl tank that is about 29 inches to the sand bed. i am thinking about doing t5 lighting. do you guys think if i ran 8 36" 10000k and 4 36" 460nm antinic bulbs would if be sufficiant to run some sps and softies
I do. might want to make sure the sps are middle to top though with that kind of depth... is it better to stagger the shorter bulbs like that or use the full length ones?
i believe the max is 48". So you will be forced to do 2x 36". I would recommend the Teklight Retrofits. Definately the best deal. You will have to keep your SPS up high though. There are some awesome tanks running T5's with SPS, but on both of our tanks, the SPS wasn't doing so hot.
I am a T5 user and i love it. I keep SPS bright and healthy under those, and you should be fine. GO for it, but i agree, for the sizethat you need, a retrofit would be cheaper than an actual fixture
