This is what i have in my tank:
uv 454
uv 75/25
aquasun 10k
uv 454
hagen 18k power glo
actinic +
i wanted to try the hagen bulb i wanted to see what color i get from it.more purple tint and for growth i dont know.i do have another 75/25 bulb.i was just wondering if i have enough growth bulbs in now or should i replace the hagen bulb and put the 75/25 back in or maybe go with i different bulb all together.i do like the color i get from the combination of bulbs..total of 234 watts over a 40 gallon tank.there is so many combinations to go with and get the balance of bulbs to look good and enough light for the corals.

I heear the AquaScience 22k bulbs are awesome! I'm going to for sure get one next time I need bulbs. Let me know how you like it Bill.

Great article but its all subjective, who was doing the test? With T-5 just go with a color spectrium that you will enjoy the growth will come.

Your combo sounds very purple to me. If it were me I would consider trying

uv 454 - kinda purplish
uv actinic white - nice crisp white
uv 75/25 - adds red/purple
hagen 18k power glo - no experience
aquasun 10k - more yellowish white
actinic + - blue but not too much

Then you could save the one 454 for later when something burns out or replacement time. When it's time to replace bulbs you should really try a UV Super Actinic in place of the actinic+. I think they make the colors pop a bit more. I like to alternate the actinic then white/yellow bulbs then actinic again so you dont get any spots that are all lit by a white light or a blue light and then blend a bit better to give an overall smoother color transition.
When I had the GE 6500 on my tanks in the middle it would wash out 2 actinic white, a super actinic and a blue+ when it came on. I will probably not use the GE bulbs again but they did help growth a lot.

Like speeddemonlsr said it is all subjective. One guy might like all 10K lights and another might want 20K with actinic supplements.

Hope that helps
