firstly Depends on how you acclimate your rics.
also are the t5's actively cooled and have reflectors? and what kind of bulb combo are you talking about here?
Many... many variables with the t5's. But one important factor is the wide array of lamp selectin with t5 over pc's.
You def DONT want overdriven ballasts. So stick with a high output fixture / kit.

I have them with pc, T5's, and halides. All do well but they love PC's.... Go figure
essentially pcs are just t5's in a two tube configuration that does not let as much light through as a t5 with an individual reflector. maybe give them one or 2 less t5's and see. but as already posted the only real way of deciding what is better is ruling out all other variables except light.
what i have found with my yumas is that they seem to like different things and some do well at propogation, some hate it, some melt straight away after being cut and some throw babies like no tomorrow. seeing as yumas can be found in 1-20 odd metres of water no lighting schedule will suit them all
T5 is just a better light overall. Ricordeas should adapt to either, but unless all you plan to own are low light intensity corals, go with T5 and save yourself the money in the longrun.
I have rics under both lights. I have a low flow tank w/pcs for acclimation and to allow the rics time to attach to substrate for thorough mounting later. They do fine under my pcs but they just dont have the same intensity as under the t5's. The rics under the t5's are MUCH brighter and get much larger. They are in my 125 at the bottom of the tank.
