T5 sps dominated tanks

I have tek 6 bulb fixtures with ATI bulbs. I have read post that say that they can be kept under these lights. I have no problems with monties and would like to start getting into acros.

IF there is already a fourm about this that I missed please share a link. Otherwise lets see some pictures and let us know what lights you are running.

I have a 140g Sps dominated tank, mainly acros. 6bulbs AM lamp with ATI bulbs. The tank is 24" wide and the lamp 12". Working fine, but I miss a wither lamp. Ideal I would like 8 bulbs. The tank is 24" deep too, and I grow acros close to the bottom. I'll say I have growt but not extremly. I allso have too much white light. 3 ATI Aquablue, 2 blue+ and 1purpe. I like it more blue than that ;)

I have a pretty young tank, so mostly fraggs, but growing. I still think that stability is more of a factor than the light (ca, mg, alk, no3) but growing acros under 6 bulbs, you cant save bucks on cheap bulbs, IMO :D

I have 4 ati bulbs on my 55 and have pretty good growth all my sps.All the sps in the upper 1/3 of the tank though. I'm still playing with the right bulb config I normally change out every 6 months. Right now I have 1 coral plus 1 blue plus 1 aqua blue special and 1 purple great color and growth it seems good.

Who told you you can't grow Sps under t5? T5 is one of the most proven lighting system we have for growing Sps. That's like saying you can't grow Sps under metal halide. I would go as far to say that I personally feel t5 is the best lighting for growing Sps. I don't know maybe they were referring to your fixture but not t5 lighting in general.

In addition, while a Tek Light may not perform as well as an ATI fixture, it'll still get the job done just fine. Try some Acros!
