T5 watts per gallon

actually, the Aquablue has the highest PAR of any of the T5 bulbs. GE is a close second, I believe.

nope. the ge 6500k is the king of PAR for t5ho, the aquablue, blue+ and the ati d7d day bulb have basically the same par, with the actinic way behind

the ge 6500k is at least 20% more par than the aquablue

ChemE,
I would rather have the 14,000K look, myself. Would taking out the 6500K and replacing it with the Aquablue light be enough par for all types of corals even SPS and Clams?

In a word; yup. And CaptainDave, horkn nailed it. Starcoats (GE 6500K) are absolute beasts when it comes to PAR. The Aquablue is a step down, the Blue+ is just shy of that. The D&D daylight a little less still (but terrible considering it is twice as expensive as the GE and 20% worse). And finally, bringing up the bottom of the barrel is the D&D pure actinic which should have been named pure trash considering the price and PAR.

What are the par ratings on th 80 watt Aquablue, Blue+, and GE 6000k?

Minor point but D&D has the 6000K bulb (which is a waste of money). GE is packing the extra 500K (6500K) which is the PAR king as horkn put it. I've not seen any hard numbers on the 80 watters; most everything that we know comes from TGR (grim) and pertains to the 54 watters; sorry. Does your reef club have a PAR meter (hint hint)?

Oops, sorry guys, I guess the thread I read a couple months ago was wrong.

Dont you just love it when someone hijacks your thread and then folks dont bother to answer your original question?

:mad2:

Can ANYONE help answer SQUIRMY'S questions?

I did. Check the 3rd or 4th post.

Don't be angry, be happy :bum:

Actually, Northern CF, it was ChemE who answered my question. Not you. I'm really not sure what question, if any, you attempted to answer in that 3rd post. Keep up. You are about a week behnid.

I contend I did answer the question.
Watts per gallon is not the greatest method. Bulbs per foot works for me :) and I hope to spread the gospel.

:)

A week! Ah, so many posts so little time. LOL
