T5's versus Halides

Hi Everyone

Wanting to place an order for either or.I do hear that t5s are compariable. But are:

A: A little cheaper
B: Easier on the power bill.

Now i am in Canada and they are hard to find here so what is the best one out there?

But i would love some opinions on either or.

You didn't link a product...

T5s are comparable with Halides if you use a good fixture, plus its easier to change the color scheme around with different bulb choices.

i have both, they put off different colors that both compliment the tank. i was in that situation a while back so i just got a little of both. they are both great lights and you wont complain on purchasing either.

I have T5's and am kind of sort of wishing I went with halides. The lack of a shimmer effect on the tank does make it look artificial, though the colors are still nice. T5's are light on the electric bill and wallet, but since my entire electric bill last month was $40 (yes, it's a house), I figure I can splurge on a little more.

What are your tank dimensions? That info would be very helpful to answer both of your questions. Likewise, what livestock do you intend to add beyond what you have listed?

i have t-5 and halides and if i were to do it all over again i would go with the t-5's hands down. if i can figure out how to get pics to download on here i will show you a pic of both on my tank and the t-5 side looks alot better. the halides do have a shimmer effect that makes everything look real. the t-5's run alot cooler and are more cost efficeint. everyone is going to tell you something different. if i were you i would go to different LFS and look at there set ups and decide for your self.
