Tahitian Butterfly in a reef

Froggy

Reef "Hobbyist"...right!?
I am at my wits end. Aptasia X, Joes juice, and every other sort of injectible. I am making the aptasia angry and they seem to be multiplying more as a result.

I have googled Tahitian butterflyfish and from what I have read they are hardy, reef safe "with caution" 95 % of the time and eat aptasia "every" time. I am really considering this fish for my 120 mixed reef with a horrible aptasia problem.

Pepp shrimp are out as my Hawkfish will readily eat them. Bergia's are suscepitble to pump dangers, overflow etc.

I am looking for your personal experience with these fish. good, bad and horror stories.

What else have they nipped at. Clams? LPS? SPS? Zoas? Paly's?

With the frustration I feel with the aptasia, I am willing to roll the dice with the 5% risk on the Google search.

Thanks ,
Joe

Anyone have experience with this fish?

This is the problem I have been having. Finding personal experience with this fish in hobbyist tanks. I have read the claims from vendors but cannot find info from actual hobbyist.

I may have to be a guinnee pig with this fish. Would live to hear from some of you if you have had one in your reef.

Thanks,
Joe

Looks like OP hasn't been on RC for 2 months and hasn't posted in 9 months...

did a quick search and it seems like it will go after soft corals.. I had the same problem but I first got an aiptasia filefish which went after acans after the aiptasia was gone and then I got rid of both the file fish and my hawkfish and added 4 peppermint shrimp (two in sump and two in display) and the aiptasia has not returned in about the last 4 months.
