Tail Spot Blenny

I am thinking of making my next fish a tail spot blenny. I have been researching them and have found that many people have issues keeping them for long periods of time. Anyone have any experience with the fish to either confirm or deny what I have seen elsewhere?

I've had mine for about 3 months now and he's been doing great. He eats just about anything I've put in the tank, and also constantly munches at the rocks/back of the tank for algae.

Tank is a nanocube 12g dx.

I had a Tail Spot Blenny and he was one of my favorite fish! I unfortunately lost him (as well as all of my other fish) in a tank crash after about 3 months so I can't speak of the mortality rate very well but he was definitely very active and had GREAT personality!!!

I have had mine for about 6 months now, still eats like a pig and is a great little fish. Though in a big tank I could see them being harder to see.

Here is an older picture of mine.

you must be able to feed them and they cannot rely on grazing algae alone. I could never get mine to eat any prepared foods, and they got fat on eating algae but died before a year. They were fat, but I could see "ribs". I am pretty sure it's because I couldn't get them to feed on any prepared foods. I think they need a better source of protein than just algae. That's just from my experience. The bigger the tank, the harder it is to spot feed them.

i enjoy feeding so I am hoping that won't be an issue.... although if it doesnt eat prepared we could have some problems. Any other people?

Feeding is fun, but they are timid and won't take food easily, also if the tank is too big, they will never get a chance. Spot feeding is a must, and if the tank's too big, you may have problems.

55g should be an ok size though, but remember these guys are tiny, 3" at the longest.

I have had mine for about 3 weeks. They are taking prepared food. At first they were a bit skiddish, but both (it's a pair) come out and eat now. I have them eating flake food, mysis, formula 1, and cyclops.

Ive had mine for about 9 months, and he is amazing! He is in a 55g. He eats anything I put into the tank. He is a very active fish and loaded with personality! I definitely recommend one!

sounds good.... now I just have to find one or a pair would be nice. Thank you all for the help and keep up advice if you have anything new to add... or just more pictures! lol

Mine was shy for a while, just picking off the rocks only until I got a clown goby eating mysis, then he picked up on frozen food and stopped touching the algea. I had him a few months then had to remove him because he started spitting sand on my favorite plate coral, put him in another tank and he jumped out.
