I would start looking for something in your price range.....
remember you only get what you pay for. for 200 buck you will be looking for a point and shoot camera, look at the reviews, most photos you see here are with a DSLR with macro lens of some sort

Decent brand Point & shoot (Sony, Nikon, Canon) 3 to 5 mega pix, good quality lens (Carl Zeiss, Nikon), also, preferably rechargeable battery
I have a Sony 3.1 MP with a carl Zeiss lens, nothing fancy but it takes amazing pics.

this is a macro shot

Thats a nice pic there roger, if my crappy camera could take anything close i would made a thread of my 210 build. What model Sony do you have?

I personally like the Panasonic Lumix line...they have the Leica lenses in them which are on par with Nikon, Sony/Zeiss, etc. Got mine on eBay for $100 to boot! And it was brand new.

Just look for something with a good close macro setting and adjustable white balance. I've gone to stores to look at them and ask questions then come home and purchased them on eBay.

You can definitely get great results with a point and shoot. My Panasonic still takes better full tank shots than my slr...not sure why, but they look good! Remember that it's not the camera, but who's behind it that determines how good the pics are. I used to take good shots with my 2mp crappy digital a few years ago, so the possibilities are endless!

Good luck on your search.

i really love all the of the canon sd line ive been using an sd500 for a while, but a friend recently got the 800is and i plan on upgrading to that. its a really nice compact camera, i use it for everything.

my gallery has a few pics of closeups with my camera.
