hmmm... ive had this piece of liverock in my tank for about 6 months.. since ive got it, ive heard 'klack! klack!' coming from my tank every night. for 6 months ive been waiting to get a glimse of the klack-happy critter but no dice, as of yet. I got fustrated one day and decided to do a freshwater dip of the liverock to see if anything would emerge... and nothing did...
BUT.. here are the observations ive made..
Reasonz why it might be a pistol shrimp:
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. the 'klack' appears to happen only at night, and very often when my CBS is climbing on this particular piece of lr... at which time the CBS chooses another rock to climb on.
2. ive not seen any dead snails, crabs, or fish.
Reasons why it might be a mantis:
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. pistol shrimps burrow in sand, not rock.
2. .... thats it.
