Talk about a hardy coral...

So I had to move a frag of GSP in the frag tank (I can't even remember why at this point). I took the frag out of the tank and set it on the counter. This was at about 8 PM. The frag was pretty big, maybe 3x3 inches. So at like 4 PM THE NEXT DAY we realized it was on the counter. We put it back in the tank and guess what? It lived... Can you believe that? It was out of the tank for about 20 hours! Gotta love them green star polyps!

We forget a lot of times, corals are exposed for long periods of time when tides go out and stuff like that. Not that i will ever try this though! That is cool, we give the corals so much T.L.C, and some still die.

I had GSP take over a tank once, used Kalk to get rid of it. Had one rock that I really liked that was real porous, always a polyp would pop out some where. So put it out side in a 5 gal bucket with old water change SW over the winter (July through May). Figured the heat and cold would get rid of the GSP, but keep the other life. I remembered one day about the rocks in the bucket as I was doing some remodeling of my Reef. Long story short, about 3 weeks later polyps started popping out of the rock. Wond up drying the rock for weeks to be sure the GSP was gone.

I made a post like this about a year ago with GSP, was titled toughest coral ever *LOL* Yeah I left it out for a LONG time, struck it back in and bam, within a few it opened right up!
