Now that the Wave Maker group buy is complete, Some have PM'ed asking me about setting up Group Buy for D120/LED. So here is the info I got so far from ReefBreeder on setting up a group buy for their LED fixtures. We must buy more than 12 units to qualify. All will be shipped to one address. Invoice will be sent from ReefBreeders for Payment via paypal. Can order Custom Layouts. (I asked about optics waiting to hear back).

Value LED Fixture: Discount Price$150 / MSRP $180
Photon Series 16: Discount Price $270 / MSRP $320
Photon Series 24: Discount Price $280 / MSRP $330
Photon Series 32: Discount Price $400 / MSRP $450
Photon Series 48: Discount Price $450 / MSRP $500

Anyone in for a ReefBreeder LED group buy? Any questions or suggestions are welcomed.

ReefBreeder please feel free to correct any errors I might have made.

Regards,
Z

So what's the difference between the value fixture and the superlux? I've tried to go on the reefbreeders site but every time I do, it tells me internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.

"The Reef Breeders SuperLux is the latest addition to our line up. It is the best of both worlds between the Value Fixtures and the Photon Series. It has a simple, built in timer and a remote, with an ultra-thin case and an upgraded hanging kit........

The light is wider than the Value and Photon fixtures, as well as a whole lot thinner, measuring 16″ long x 10.5″ wide x only 1.5″ tall. The SuperLux has a built in timer which allows for control over both channels without using external timers, and the single right angle plug saves a ton of outlet space. The controller allows you to program a separate intensity for either channel, as well as a separate on and off time for each channel.

The light is full spectrum with our proprietary layout, which has had years of success.
Our exact layout can be downloaded Here for your reference."

I believe the superlux is a wider fixture with the leds being clustered in 4 groups. It will give better spread. I have a ocean revive fixture that is very similar to the superlux. Hope that helps

Nice to see the Superlux with quite a bit of lower 400nm light ie 430nm. I just wish they'd stop putting them on the same channel as the whites. If you're going to have a 2 channel only light the 430nm leds really should be be the royals. Running violets at 20-30% does virtually nothing.

My thoughts exactly, I'm thinking of doing one and swapping the violets to the other channel

I would swap 6 blues from channel 2 with the 6 violets. That way you get full use of that spectrum. just my 2 cents

I agree djsmallz for the for none sps setups. But I think this layout is good as there is a few whites. Out of 48 LED 12 are whites. I do like the timer being built and that its slim. I am thinking about getting 4 of these with default layout for my 210 and selling my 3 d120.

Why 4 instead of 3? Just a extra one?
I'm really thinking about getting 2 for my 120....

Color ratio is great I would just rather the 420's be on the blue channel so you can actually have them turned up to a percentage that would be more useful, seeing how most of us that run leds only run the white channel 40-50%. IMO

I'm still new to all this so I have a few questions I'm hoping that you experienced reefers can help so I can make my decision.

First question:
Can any of these lights be connected to a controller? Say Digital Aquatics or Apex.

Second question:
My tank is 30 inches deep and planning to have about 3-5 inch sand bed. What degrees do the lights need to be? I'm also doing a rock wall so I want to ensure that corals on the wall are getting enough light.

Question 3:
My tank is 60x27x30tall with a mid-center overflow. I'm thinking of doing 3 lights, two on the sides angled in towards the back and one running left to right in front of the overflow. Can anybody recommend sizes?

Question 4:
With all of that in mind can someone recommend layout? Whether based on experience or studies. I'm wanting to grow a little if everything and still have colors in the coral pop. I've read things about red lights not bring good. Certain nm not being needed (or needed). I don't think I fully understand it all yet.

I appreciate the help and guidance! I definitely want to be part of the group buy!

Below is the tank.

Reefwhatyouknow:

1: I don't think so
2: I am not using optics and running lights at %90. 8 inches off the water. I am in near future going to use 90s and raise the hight of the lights. I also have 30" with very little sand bed.
3: What about the attached. Two Photon 32
4: To much to write. Start with this
