hey guys can someone please help me out with this question.. currently i have in my tank two orange clown, one flame angel, and one sailfin tang.. i saw a atlantic blue tang and it is simply beautiful. can someone tell me if my fish would all get along if i got it especially the blue tang with the sailfin tang???

i was not trying to be rude, but tangs get pretty big, need alot of swimming room, and need alot of live rock to graze off of. most will tell you that 125g is the minimum tank size to keep happy healthy tangs, some species 180 or larger. in that small of a tank you do not have enough to graze off of for 1 tang nevertheless 2, so that would definately make another incompatible regardless if they would get along. but to answer your question, tangs tend to fight with other tangs unless they have alot of room to stay away froom each other.

The book Marine Fishes states that the Atlantic Blue is usually well behaved in a large aquarium but can be quite beligerent in a small tank. I agree it is a beautiful fish. This probably doesn't help much but I would be concerned as you are placing it in a small tank.

ok scuba i apologize. thought you were just trying to be rude. so far i have not had any problems all the fish seem to be happy. your probably right with what your saying and i really dont want to push it. the people at the fish store didnt seem to think it was a big deal but i guess thas just what they are there for is to sell fish. the tang does not seem stressed and seems happy but you think that he may be two crowded? i have alot of places for them to hide with all the live rock that i have in there but what u think?

no need to apologize, it did sound kinda rude. im guessing he is probally a baby correct? when he grows up a lil more you will see just how big he really will get. then things will start getting more cramped. remember just as you said, the lfs is there to make money. of course they wont see a problem. next time you go there ask if you can buy that pretty blue clam with only regular florecent lights over your tank and see what they say.

To answer your question, if the tang is not yet established, then there should really be no problems. I had a yellow in my 125 for almost two months before I added my powder blue. They never fought.
But you do need a bigger tank to house two tangs.
