Can you keep multiple tangs in a 142g?

If it is possible my choice would be between sailfin, kole, yellow, purple, regal.

Would it be possible?

The general rule with tnags is to try not keep them together if they are TOO similar. E.G. It is very difficult to kepp an Achilles with a Powder Blue or a Gold Rim.........same family, same shape. They will have a good chance of killing each other.

The ones that you chosen are a little less likely to do so. My only concern would be the yeillow and the purple. If you put them in in the order Kole, Regal, Sailfin, and then add the other two at the same time, you have a good chance of success.

Howere, like humnas, all fish are different and some are calm, while others are maniacs!

I have currently got a Regal, Yellow, Powder Blue, Sailfin and a Clown. That being siad, they are in a 300+ gallon tank. hope this helps

Whats your tank dimensions, I'm not familiar with a 142g?

If it's atleast 6ft, then you can get away with the Kole since they stay small. The Yellow and Purple are Zebrasomas like the Sailfin(which species btw?) and are fairly aggressive tangs. For instance I had a Yellow that would keep a Triggerfish inline, and Purples can be worse too. The Sailfins usually are fairly laid back if not altogether large as I've not seen any sailfin smaller than 5-6in for sale. I know nothing about the Regals, and I'm not even sure what they look like lol. What's their latin name? There's starting to be too many common names of fish to be sure anymore hehe.

Essentially if its a 6ft tank then you should be fine with one of the afore mentioned species. You can try mixing the Kole with the Zebrasomas however I would advoid mixing the Zebras together especially since as they mature they will get less passive with like kind. The only time I've seen more than one Zebra was in large(220+) systems and they were pretty much added at the same time since in the wild these fish do school.

the tank will be 64X23X23 custom tank

I live in South Africa so your tank makes are not available here

I would love to get a kole, sailfin and regal I think

Ok, since the tank is essentially 5'x2'x2', I'm advising against the Sailfin because at it's adult size I don't feel it would have sufficient room with the other 2 fish you've picked. I'm assuming in saying Regal sugeonfish your talking about the Palette surgeon(Paracanthurus Hepatus) correct? That and the Kole should be fine together.

My concern for the Sailfin is that it is a very tall fish and in only a 2ft deep tank Im not sure if it will have enough room. The other issue is substrate depth, how deep your sandbed is(unless your going bare-bottom) and how much rock there will be cuts down on swimming room.

I have a Yellow tang, Hippo tang, and a Orange shoulder tang all in my 180 and they are doing just fine. I go with the rule of not keeping more than one of the same type. All my tangs are different Genus.
