Tang Compatibility

Hey, all. I have a Lavender Tang in QT right now and was thinking of adding another tang but am really confused on what I should get (if I should get another tang at all). I've taken in so much information that now I cannot make a decision either way. Lots of people seem to go right ahead and mix up their tangs with a seemingly reckless abandon while others have it down to the exact mixing per gallon, per color, per genus, per entry date.
I wont even say which tang I'm considering (I do have one in mind), but would love to hear from anybody which would be the safest to couple with my Lavender. I have a 125 gallon (6' length) that is empty (just finished cycle). I currently only have the Lavender in QT along with some inverts. Thanks guys!!!

In a 125g, I wouldn't add any more Acanthurus tangs. You might be able to get away with a yellow tang or some of the smaller kole/bristletooths. Definitely no Naso's

pretty sure a lavender is close to the same species at bristletooths aren't they?

I would try a YT if anything

Well usually tangs are close to the last if not the last fish added to the tank. You will need to proceed with caution as you add other fish.
As for another tang, personally I wouldn't in a tank your size.
Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys. I considered getting a Yellow, but decided against it. I dunno, their ubiquity has made them a bit boring for me. I'm leaning towards one of the following:

Two Spot Bristletooth Tang
Tomini Bristletooth Tang
Yellow Eye Kole Tang

Anyone see any objections with one of these??? Anyone reason to choose one over the other???
If none of the 3 will make a suitable tank mate to my Lavender I think it best to hang it up and just wait until a tank upgrade before considering another Tang purchase. Thanks everybody for your insight. It truly is appreciated. -A

Tangs are algae grazers and are best put in the tank after it matures in 9-12 months. You will need to feed them nori or similar a clip. I have kept a powder brown, sailfin and kole in a 125 until the sailfin grew too big for the tank.

My preference is the Tomini Flame Fin. I have 3 that were tank born. They are all happy and work together in the tank. Their temperament seems perfect for a peaceful tank. Your best bet would be to add the 2 tangs together to your DT at night if possible, this way they will have to hide instead of bicker. Feed them good for a couple of days. Good luck, and I wouldn't stress too much over it.

We have a Tomini that is just a great fish. He is constantly hard at work picking at live rock. Additionally, he doesn't bother anyone and no one bothers him. Awesome fish, highly recommended.

Two Spot Bristletooth Tang
Tomini Bristletooth Tang
Yellow Eye Kole Tang

are not an option with Lavender Tang. You needed to add the Tangs together to lower aggression. By you adding the Tang first in your tank, good luck adding anything else to the tank. You may have 1 fish in 125 gallon.
