tang doing somersaults

iLLwiLL

Codename: Dutchess
Came home this morning to my large purple tang doing somersaults and swimming all crazy around my tank, crashing into anything in its way. I immediately tested the water, and all the basics are all in check . . .

salinity - 1.026
PH - 8.0
nitrate - 5
nitrite - 0
ammonia - 0

Nothing has changed in my tank in over a month. No new additions, no equipment upgrades, no new foods, and my last small water change was 3 days ago. Any ideas on what I can do for this guy? I turned my actinics on early and he calmed down some and seemed to be swimming better but is pretty banged up from crashing into SPS colonys.

any help / advice would be greatly appreciated, TIA.

Vodka dosing and he got a drink? :(

Sounds bad whatever it is. What is the size and age of the tang and the tank?

I wonder if he just got spooked by something and freaked out... or if he is having a spat with another fish. Hopefully the injuries don't infect.

With my halides on now he is calm and upright, not 100% back to normal, but waaaaaay better than he was earlier. The tank is a 180, been up for 3 months in its current location, and much longer than that in its previous. I traded a fellow reefer a smaller setup for this one. The purple tang is around 6" and I picked him up a week after the 180 settled after the move from another reefer getting out of the hobby.
