Some tangs will eat it and some tangs are planktivores and really won't touch it. I recommend a modest amount of meat (protein) to help him grow and get thick - maybe 20-40%. Growing and thick tangs are very disease resistant IME.
I feed him red and green algae sheets twice a day, brine shrimp and formula 2 frozen. I tried to feed him some romain lettuce, but he wasn't having that stuff!
i feed my tank about an 6x6 in sheet of nori a day. in the wild, the tangs are constantly grazing, so imo you can't feed enough. (of course, you'll need a good skimmer to get rid of the waste)
My yellow and powder blue get a nori clip every other day. On the days they don't get the clip I give them formula two pellets. In between at nightime they get fed either frozen formula one or two, prime reef or mysis shrimp.
