Tang fin problems

I am battling the same issue with my purple tang, I am darn near positive it is the carbon that is causing the issues. The fish eats like a pig and is very active. I even run the rox from brs but the fish still must react to it. I put the purple tang in qt and hit him with prazipro and then furan, find were healing great until the meds stopped and I put the carbon cartridge filter in. The fins are now eroding away again and the only variable that changed was the carbon. I am going to remove the carbon and see if the fins begin to recover. This will be the tell tale experiment if this is the true issue in my system with this fish.

Someone needs to do this experiment. I'm convinced it plays a role. And yes it happens in tangs!!

Anecdotally, I was running a bag of carbon in my sump. Somehow it got sucked into my return pump. Sure enough, my fish came down with HLLE soon after.
