tang help

I have had my system running for six years now (90 gallon reef). About 5 years ago I purchased a Purple tang and despite the warnings about six months later I purchased a yellow tang. Kept the lights off for 2 days and to my suprise they got along just fine. 3 months ago I started an upgrade to a 125. Sadly, during the move I lost my yellow tang. 2 weeks ago I purchased another yellow tang. This one is slightly larger than the purple. I repeted the acclimation process, and the purple tang would chase and batt at the yellow. Now 2 weeks later the yellow is showing extream aggression towards the purple. Now the purple is having trouble eating and his stomache looks deformed. should I pull the yellow out? I have never had to remove a fish before and I'am not looking foward to it. I like the purple better and he has been with me longer. Any suggestions??

If the purple is hiding during feeding put the nori on a clip or tie it to a rock and place it in it's spot. Do this until you can get the yellow out.

There is another trick you can try. Print out the 5-6 pictures of purple tang (in color). Then cut it and post it on the tank wall. The yellow will see that there a a bunch of purple tang in the tank and usually he will stop harassing your purple. Hope this work for you.

I will try the picture thing. In theory it sounds like it will work. He is not hiding during feeding. The yellow chases him away from the nori.
