Okay soo i have/had 3 tangs. 1- powder brown, 1-yellow tang, 1 -blue tang. Lost my powder brown oct 07 and i got him oct 06 soo i had him for a year. He started to get a real thin belly and he had a hard time eating and all and finally my anemone ate him. I didn't feed he a lot of alage b/c it caused a lot of hair alage problems. I think that was my main problem why i lost him. Now my yellow tang is getting a thin belly......i am feeding alage a lot more around 3 times a week and i soak the food in vita chem and garlic guard 3 cubes total. 1-formula 2 and 1-krill and1- ocean plankton (once a week) i let it sit in the frig. over night. and then feed it the next day. I typically feed all sorts of food mostly the bio pure brand about 3 cubes a day. This summer i plan i adding a 80 gallon refugium to my tank soo i can feed as much as i want along with running 2 skimmers. I don't get it tho my blue tang is nice and fat but my yellow tang has a pinched belly. What could i do to fixed this problem before i loose my yellow tang? thanks for any input..

Feed some nori soaked in some garlic. That should help some. My sailfin has a very little belly in the morning and when i add the nori his stomach is huge.

nori nori nori

i don't soak nori in anything and I credit nori with curing serious lateral line disease in a yellow tang and a purple tang

\ tangs with lateral line disease = cheap!

sorry I ramble
anyway, tangs get fat with nori. feed everyday if he has a pinched belly. two skimmers should take care of the nitrate problem, yes

he needs to be fed nori daily. they are very active fish and need something to graze on at all times....

Another thing to consider is aggression from the PBT that keeps your yellow away from offered food. When I feed, I put the nori on several clips throughout the tank to make sure that anyone who wants some can get to it.
