I ordered a Black Spot or "Bariene" tang from the LFS, I even provided the scientific Ancanthurus Bariene. This is what the wholesaler provided as a Bariene tang, now I have never seen a juvi Bariene but I think this is a Lavender. It was priced like a Lavender. What do you guys think?

This definetely looks a Lavender tang. The Bariene tangs would have a white scapel and yellow markings behind the gills. Also there would be a lot more yellow in the fins.

Yeah, I knew it wasnt the Bariene and I was 90% sure on the lavender but I had never seen either one before in person. I felt bad since he ordered it for me and I guess he didn't know any better. So I guess I have a new Lavender tang, but it goes to show what the LFS knows..... sure this blue hippo will be fine in your 10g tank:facepalm:

Sometimes I wonder how any LFS gets in any special orders... One of my LFS the that sponsors the local club will post an availability sheet in the forums from one of their suppliers. Scientific names aren't used unless they just don't post them.

Hopefully its not this supplier, he was trying to tell my LFS that my juvi orange shoulder was a lieutenant because of the blue outline that was starting to show on the anal and dorsal fin..... Forget about the large orange strip forming above his pectoral fins or the vertical line starting to form halfway down his body lol...
