Tang Not Eating

All,

I noticed over the last week or go my Yellow Tang does not seem to be eating the brine I put in the tank.

I put seaweed in the tank so maybe he eats that when I am not looking..but he doesn't seem to eat the brine anymore :{

Anything I can do?

Thanks!

Does he look filled out or is he getting skinny? How long have you had him? Is he behaving normally or hiding, breathing fast?

FWIW brine is not a suitable main diet for tangs. Look for a complete herbivore diet, flake, pellet or frozen.

I have had him since May...so about 7 months. I used to eat flakes and pellets...but lately he has not been eating that either.
He has gotten bigger since I got him & I guess he is avg as far as being filled out or then.

When I first got him the live rocks were setup in a way where he would swim in a pattern back and forth....about a month or so ago I moved the rocks around and since then he has seemed sad :(

Thanks!

it could be many things...

what size is your tank? is it possible he is stressed because he has grown and now it is too small?

any new tankmates since you got him, possibly bullying or outcompeting for food?

have you checked water parameters lately? (pH, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia)

do you see any sign of disease - spots, torn fins, slime, cloudy eyes?

any possibility the tank was poisoned - cleaning products, forgetting to treat water, etc.?

usually healthy, unstressed tangs eat like pigs. moving rocks around shouldn't do anything, unless all cover was taken away.
