Hi everyone, I just add a blue hippo tang to my aquiarium two day ago and he is not eating yet, I feed my fish (two clowns, snails and two pepper mint shrimp) onece a day with frossen food (shrimp), and my new tang is not going for it!. What should I feed my tang with?....Thank you.

is he in your 29 gal tank? If so it's stress and did you quentine him first? try some veggies (dried seaweed or roman lettuce) on a veggie clip.

Although I agree the tank is a bit small, if he's little then I doubt that's the issue...yet.

Anyway... Try some nori (seaweed) and just hang it in the tank on a clip like kz said. There are different colors, I've had the best luck with tangs with the red.

It's a crap shoot with tangs, many of them are still cyanide caught and if that's the case your little guy is doomed. Hopefully you bought from a store that deals with hand caught only, but it's still a crap shoot.

Unfortunately the tiny hippo's that are sold have much less chance of survival than one 3" or more ,( money for the retailer ,misery for the hobbiest ) This fish can get a foot long and grows very rapidly! you might try putting garlic on some nori and rubber banding it to a piece of liverock. Please consider returning it to the fish store for a fish more suitable to a 29 gal. tank.
Best of luck , Lee

I agree with all the comments above, but you might also try some live copopods. That worked for me with one of my tangs would would not eat at first. Now he eats everything!

Tangs are finicky... I wouldn't worry to it gets around a week or so.

Is it at least picking at the rocks in your tank?
