Tang proof algae clip

I posted a little while back about finding an algae clip that my sailfin couldn't yank the algae out of. I got a couple suggestions but none really appealed to me. So i came up with this from stuff i had laying around. Its pretty simple to make, the only change i will make is to change the nylon nut to a wingnut. Basically all i did was to take a 2" section of 1" PVC pipe, drill a 1/4" hole through it. Then slice it on my bandsaw and then bevel the cut edges slightly to form gripping jaws. To lessen the tension on the bolt i relief cut the back side of the PVC with my bandsaw. I then put the 1/4-20 nylon bolt through an acrylic hanger(had it from the old one that didn't work), then through the hole in the PVC . I then threaded on a nylon nut. (change to a wing nut to make it easier to load). Here is the completed algae holder.

Sweet, I will take one pretty please. The suction cup ones always fall off and disappear up under my live rock where I can never get it.

dan has Hang on algae clips at the store, i got one and it works swimmingly.,

and the fish cant rip it off the wall, plus i dont have to put my hand in the water to feed.

I fashioned a similar one out of acrylic. The only problem, which I think is what Cove was getting at, is that a large tang can pull the nori right out of the clip.

my purple tang is thick and is pretty rough and the clear clip on that one is way stronger than the blue one that i have.

My original is stronger than the one Dan sells now( i checked ) and i even added a rubber band doubled up a couple times. With the one i made the sailfin can't make off with the whole thing. My sailfin is 8" tall and 6" long and violent when the algae hits the water, especially if i make the mistake of putting a fresh bunch in before the regular feeding.
