Tang question

Well since I've lost all my fish I have tons of time to think and plan. I have a reg 180 gal. Is 3 yellow Tangs and a naso and a powder blue to much. Shoul I just cut it down to 1 yellow? There will be other fish like wrasses and such but no angels. Maybe a blue throat trigger and a longhorn

IMO 3 yellows a naso and blue would be fine with no other larger fish but i woudl only get one yellow if you want more fish.

Naso's get pretty big and need a lot of swimming space. You will probably get different opinions out there, but I personally would remove the naso from the list, especially if you're thinking of putting another large fish in there.

If you're already set on getting the Naso, then I would leave out the trigger (since that is also a very active swimmer). And even then, I would probably also cut it down to 1 yellow tang.

Yeah, I personally would skip the "naso" too -- they get too big and swim too much for a standard 180.

IMO if you get all thsoe fish as babys (2") then that list will work for like 3 or 4 years probably. after that, when they are fullgrown, thatll be too much. for a long-term tank i would do the the 3 yellows and the powdered blue if you just want tangs, 1 yellow, 1 powdered blue and 1 bluethroat if you want the trig.i would put no other large fish (>8") in the tank with either the 4 tangs or the 2 tangs and the trig. i love nasos but ive seen pics of fullgrown guys and they get big.

ya....how long does it take for the naso to grow? My wife LOVE the blonde naso....they trigger isn't a for sure, just thought it would be intersting...if i have to do the naso what else would you guys recommend, knowing that one day it'll need a new home, maybe by that time i'll need a new tank!

My naso grew QUICK, and they get VERY large, large bioload for a smaller tank IMO.

Naso's get large FAST. And 3 yellows probably won't work in your tank. I tried 3 very small ones in a 210 and all 3 always had tattered fins. IMO, in order to have multiples of the same tang, you need a very large tank.

id go yellow and powder blue thats it (of course other fish but not anymore tangs). IMO

Lot of money to spend on a fish that has about as good of a survival rate as winning the lotto and with my luck it would die. Ha
