tang with blemish

Young Reefer
hey all,
unfortunately i did not get a chance to take a picture of it yet but i will try to explain it for you guys. I just noticed it today. meaning that it happened over either the course of one or two days(yesterday i was busy so i just fed and walked away). It is hard to explain what it looks like. the best way i can describe it is almost the shape and look of a pimple. it is located about a cm or two away from her gill. the coloration is fairly normal.it is the same basic color just a tiny bit lighter. the tang is still eating like the little piggy she is. ill try to get a pic up tomorrow but any idea from what i said?
Thanks,
Michael

ps: the only other tankmates are a pair of clowns that are frankly afraid of the tang because shes 2x the size of them

that did help. i think it may be stress related like shells was talking about. she had a hard transport

hey,
ive been trying for the past two days to get a picture of her. The problem is she doesnt stay still long enough to get a picture even when shes feeding. On top of that, the bump is only on one side. Therefore, in the time being i feel i should describe it to try and dig something up. First off, she is an orange shoulder tang.(i hear sirens in the distance, went with conflicting info then realized later) I bough havent had her for very long. MAYBE two weeks. I normally qt all fish but for this fish i was told 4in she showed up 6in. She wouldnt even have been able to turn around in the qt. One thing ive noticed though is she seems to be pooping very often. when i say often it seems to be sometimes within 10 minutes.(ill be sitting watching and shell go twice in that time) this might be though because shes associated me with food. the color of the poop is a greenish tinge which seems normal. it is almost a loose cirular pellet. The original bump has receded a bit. but, either im going crazy(havnt taken a good look until today) or there are two new bumps. one every day. Which means i need to act fast. despite the fact they are new, they are still on the exact same side of her body. now that i looked at the bumps more, her scale color is raised halfway up but the 2nd part is white. almost like it is bursting out of the skin. But, there is no ragged part to it or damaged skin. the bumps are still are based around the gills. one, however, is on the base muscle of the pelvic fin. Shes still eating fine. One other thing i dont know if its important or not but the cleaner shrimp is cleaning her often(i know that could just be dead skin). Finally, the tank mates still have no sign of her ilness.
Thank you for all your help.
Sincerely,
Michael R

The poop thing is only a concern if you see white stringy poo. That is a symptom of Flukes/internal worms and would need to be treated with PraziPro. If this is a virus akin to Lymphocystis it is not unusual for the spots to come & go. For now I would maintain excellent water quality and maybe soak her food in something like Selcon (fish vitamins) to boost her immune system. I know you feel like you need to do something here but without a diagnosis you can't really medicate. Maybe keep trying to take a pic because what you're telling me isn't enough for me to give you a proper diagnosis.

yeah its not stringy and i will continue to try and take a picture. And ill keep params good. thank you

interesting thing happened. i made some big changes to my tank yesterday. i added gfo, started using elos svm2 and upped the flow. i went downstairs today and the spots on the tang almost all went away. im talking drastic difference. the only one remaining is the original and it is much smaller. this makes me want to believe its stressed rellated but wow that seemed fast

Interesting update. i could never get that picture. Let me just say the blemishes all but went away. The tang is still alive. I recently added a new baby bristle tooth into the tank and guess what. Both tangs now have them. the baby bristletooth has them localized in the head area but the orange shoulder has tiny ones everywhere.(actually has me afraid a bit that my id was wrong. not ich though at least). I am dumfounded as to what it could be. I figure its not worth qting them yet. Therefore i monitor them for at least 15 minutes at a time to see how they are acting. so far, neitther of them seem off at all. both are eating properly, pooping properly and neither of them display any weird breathing patterns. i have my qt tank on standby jic it turns bad. Weirdest thing... the clownfish exhibit no blemishes nor have they while it took the new tang 4 days to show them
