Tangs for new tank

Question. I'm looking to put my first fish in a 250 gal reef system. Algae crew in for 2 weeks but still lots and lots of green algae. Can I add as the first fish 2 yellow tangs and a purple tang? Will they take over the tank and terrorize later added fish?

How long has the tank been setup? I would wait until the tank is established before adding tangs.

Sorry, Newbe here! Tank 6 weeks old, snails, crabs, blennie, 2 urchins and sea hare in 2 weeks today. All tests show ideal.

Before adding aggressive fish as yellow and purple tangs i would wait til the very end. Do you have fish list planned?
Make a list go for least aggresive til aggresive out of your list ask tons of questions and then go from there. To answer your question they will take over the tank like its theres and it will be hard to add any new fish. I would only add one yellow rather then two. If you were to add a group of yellows odd numbers would be your best bet. I would go 3 but i then wouldn't add the purple tang.

Purple tang should be the last fish, I have learned that the hard way. Don't add more than one tang with the same body shape (ie, Zebrasoma Sp.). A PBT would make a beautiful addition and then add the purple when you are done stocking.
