Tangs will not sty alive, any ideas

I have had now two kole tangs and two clown tangs that have died in qt. all params are perfect, fully cycled tank for qt. How do I get them to survive. I have floated them then did the cup method. Why would they die? When they do they have something peeling off of them and are extremely pale.

Something peeling off? Sounds pretty bad to me... I'd try a different source.

How long are they surviving?

Peeling off? Maybe flukes? I wouldn't do the floating method, better to drip acclimate them. What is in your QT tank (med wise, copper etc?).

always treat qt tanks with copper even if fish are not sick the point of qt is to make sure fish is healthy and eating the chances of fish having parasites or some sort of disease is high even if there are no visible signs yet imo clown tangs are ick magnicts as they are and especially getting them the way you recevie them is even more stressful just my opinion

Treat always with copper, otherwise why have a QT if not for using copper? :p

Because copper wreaks havoc on the internal organ of Tangs. There are other methods to eradicate parasites from Tangs. Please do your research before steering others in the wrong direction.

This is why I don't use copper medicines. Paraguard has no copper in it, seems to work okay. As to how long they survive, it is about 24-48 hours after acclamation.

I agree with your statement. Copper is not safe for all fish. I just had an issue with Cupramine use, which is considered a very mild copper, with Butterflies and an Achilles Tang that are in QT. They exhibited lethargy and labored breathing to the point that I did a water change in the hopes they would not die. After five minutes of adding new water they were back to normal. I have a Tinker butterfly pair coming from Hawaii and I don't know what I am going to use as part of their QT. I will likely do hypo along with Prazi for 4-6 weeks and will definitely not be using copper.

I used cupramine for 2 weeks on my achilles because of marine velvet and it worked out all right but I had to monitor copper levels very carefully, even a bit high and the achilles started showing distress
