Tank Backgrounds

Search shadowbox background or something like that here, some of those are really great. I would have done it myself but my plumbing setup prevents it...

why cant you do a foam background on an existing tank?

As long as it's fully 'cured' ie: rinsed until the alkalinity is in line (assuming you're using some type of portland cement based product) why wouldn't you be able to?

I mean, you probably will have to do it in pieces, rather than all in one..... but why not?

I thought I would have a problem with buoyancy. And must be siliconed in the glass to have it stay put ?

I use a ceramic magnetic piece. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1420590587.114828.jpg

Foam and cement backgrounds are two different things. Neither of which I would put in a running tank.

Also, with portland cement it's the pH your concerned with not the alk.

Right. pH. It's been a while since I've built my own rock.

I personally wouldn't put one in at all, let alone in a running tank. But as long as the curing is done what's the problem?
